Self-Employed.ca Launches to Help Self-Employed Canadians Explore Mortgage Options in Alberta and BC
Rezul News/10738524
New mortgage website from Calgary-based broker Owen Langis focuses on the unique financing challenges facing self-employed business owners, sole proprietors, contractors, gig workers, and incorporated business owners.
CALGARY, Alberta - Rezul -- Self-Employed.ca, a mortgage resource website built specifically for self-employed Canadians, is now live and serving borrowers across Alberta and British Columbia.
The site was created by Owen Langis, a licensed mortgage broker and partner at Mortgage Connection, after years of seeing self-employed clients face the same challenge: traditional mortgage qualification is often built around T4 employment income, while many business owners earn income in ways that do not fit neatly into standard lending guidelines.
"Self-employed income does not always show clearly on a tax return after business expenses, deductions, and write-offs," said Langis. "That can create challenges when applying for a mortgage, even when the business is strong. Self-Employed.ca was built to help business owners understand the mortgage options available to them, including stated income programs, income gross-up options, add-backs, and lender-specific solutions that many borrowers do not know exist."

The website includes dedicated resources on self-employed stated income mortgages, income gross-up programs, income add-backs, mortgage pre-approvals, refinances, renewals, and options for business owners with less than two years of self-employment history.
Langis works with sole proprietors, contractors, gig workers, incorporated professionals, and business owners who may not qualify through traditional income verification alone or business owners who want to work with a mortgage broker who understands self-employed income. The website is designed to help self-employed Canadians prepare earlier, understand their options, and avoid being declined simply because they approached the wrong lender or used the wrong income strategy.
Owen Langis is a licensed mortgage broker with the Real Estate Council of Alberta and the BC Financial Services Authority, and is a member of Mortgage Professionals Canada. Self-Employed.ca currently serves clients in Calgary, Airdrie, Red Deer, Lethbridge, Edmonton, Leduc, St. Albert, Fort McMurray, and other Alberta communities, as well Kelowna, Kamloops, Vancouver, Okanagan, Surrey, Burnaby, and other British Columbia communities.
