FALL ORCHESTRA CONCERT

Santa Fe, NM–Conrad Tao returns for Santa Fe Pro Musica's Fall Orchestra Concert. His work "all I had forgotten or tried to" was written in 2017, originally for piano solo. In 2019, Tao arranged this hauntingly beautiful work for Stefan Jackiw, violinist and a frequent music collaborator, who remarked that "I've long admired Conrad's expressive creativity, his probing mind and his spirit of thoughtful investigation. His music is darkly expressive, gorgeously lyrical, and at times shatteringly powerful." The program, led by Pro Musica artistic director and violinist, Colin Jacobsen, also features works by Haydn, Debussy, and Beethoven.

Colin Jacobsen, violin and leader, is Santa Fe Pro Musica's artistic director and "one of the most interesting figures on the classical music scene" (The Washington Post). He has performed, composed, and arranged music for over 30 albums, won a GRAMMY award, and has received four GRAMMY nominations. He is a co-founder of the string quartet Brooklyn Rider, the chamber orchestra The Knights, and an original member of Yo-Yo Ma's Silkroad Ensemble. A graduate of The Juilliard School and the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, Colin plays a Joseph Guarneri filius Andreae violin (1696) and, new this season, a Patrick Robin (2024).
Conrad Tao, piano, has been performing with Santa Fe Pro Musica since he was 14 years old (2009}, and has since returned for 18 performances. As a pianist and composer, he has amassed a steady stream of awards and critical acclaim for his performances, compositions, and recordings. A former prodigy, Conrad has emerged as a mature, intelligent, and thought-provoking artist. He has had solo appearances with the world's great orchestras, including Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, San Francisco, New York, Philadelphia, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Philharmonie Berlin, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Seoul Philharmonic, NDR Hannover, and others.
