WINSTON ~ Jobana Semones, Community Development Executive at Piedmont Advantage Credit Union, was recently selected as a finalist in the Rising Stars category of the Credit Union Times' Luminaries Awards. Prior to the roll out of the program in August 2022, Semones unveiled it to the board of directors which garnered their immediate support. She also conducted all of the internal training for all staff members so that everyone was informed and excited about this new venture.
Semones also designed Piedmont Advantage's youth financial learning series called MoneyY-ZER which empowers youth with the financial know-how to be WISER upon becoming financially independent. Children and teens in grades K-12 learn how and why to save, budget, manage and invest money as well as how to avoid frauds, scams and predatory lending practices. As a certified credit union financial counselor she conducts all of these activities including in Spanish upon request.
Piedmont Advantage's President & CEO Dion Williams expressed his pride for Semones saying "We couldn't be prouder of Jobana." While she didn't take home the top honor at this year's awards ceremony she is still an inspiration for her work within her community and beyond.
