New Westside Night Market Launches in Long Beach on Sept. 18

Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach is set to launch a new monthly event that will bring together the community in a celebration of local street food, handmade goods, and live music. The Westside Night Market will take place on the third Friday of September, October, and November at Admiral Kidd Park.
Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his excitement for the upcoming market, stating that it is another way to strengthen the local economy and bring new energy to the city. He also mentioned that the market is part of the Westside Promise Initiative, a 10-year community investment plan aimed at addressing challenges faced by West Long Beach.
The market will feature a diverse lineup of food vendors and an indie marketplace showcasing local makers. The organizers hope to expand the number of participating artists and artisans in future markets. Attendees can also look forward to limited food and product giveaways.
Among the confirmed food vendors are Glizzy Street, operated by teenage twins Chaze and Chazz Clemons who gained social media fame for their bacon-wrapped hot dogs. Other notable vendors include Black Pork, a celebrated restaurant in West Long Beach, and Pepe's Red Tacos known for its birria. Sweet treat lovers can indulge in offerings from Inglorious Funnels and Pearl Girl Bakery while 710 Coffee truck will be offering special evening hours. Fresh produce from local farmers as well as plant-based food, creole cuisine, chicken wings, burgers, pizza, seafood and more will also be available.

Aside from delicious food options, attendees can enjoy performances from Mariachi Alma Juvenil and Cal State Long Beach's Grupo Folklorico Mexica de CSULB youth dance group. Jewel Box Children's Theater Company will also put on a cabaret show while offering a free theater class during the event.
Vice Mayor Roberto Uranga of Seventh Council District which includes West Long Beach expressed his enthusiasm for the market stating that it is more than just a gathering for the neighborhood. He sees it as an opportunity for people from all over the region to explore a different part of the city, experience its spirit, and sample its fantastic food.
Thanks to sponsors such as the Office of Vice Mayor Uranga, the Port of Long Beach, and the Long Beach Container Terminal, admission to the market is free. The City of Long Beach's Community Development Department and Economic Development & Opportunity Department, Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn, and the Westside Long Beach Business Alliance have also played a crucial role in organizing and highlighting the neighborhood's entrepreneurial spirit.
