Naperville: Special Citywide Brush Collection Taking Place Beginning Week of Aug. 17

Rezul News/10742912
~ Naperville, IL - The City of Naperville has announced a special citywide brush collection in response to the severe weather that occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 11. The collection will begin the week of Aug. 17 and residents are encouraged to take advantage of the various disposal options available.

Residents can dispose of bagged yard waste and loose brush and branches through two collection options. Groot, the city's waste management company, will collect bagged and bundled brush and yard waste on residents' regular garbage and recycling collection days during the weeks of Aug. 17 and Aug. 24. During this time, yard waste stickers will not be required as long as the materials adhere to Groot's yard waste collection guidelines.

However, starting the week of Aug. 31, stickers will be required again for bagged and bundled materials. Residents can find Groot's yard waste collection guidelines on the city's website at naperville.il.us/yardwaste.

For those with loose brush and tree debris, Public Works crews will begin a one-time, citywide collection on Monday, Aug. 17. Residents are advised to place their loose, unbundled brush and tree debris on the parkway in front of their homes by 6 a.m. on Aug. 17.

It is important to note that crews will only pass through each neighborhood once and will not return after an area is completed. To keep track of completed collection areas, a map will be updated daily at naperville.il.us/yardwaste by 5 p.m. on weekdays.

Once crews have passed through an area, residents are reminded not to put any more loose brush or tree debris out at the curb. Any remaining materials must be prepared according to Groot's guidelines and placed out on their regularly scheduled garbage and recycling collection day or disposed of by a privately hired tree removal company.

The City has also provided a list of important dates to help residents prepare for the two collection processes, which can be found at naperville.il.us/yardwaste. To stay informed about brush collection and other important notifications, residents can sign up for the City's notification system, Naper Notify, by visiting www.napernotify.com.

In case of any downed trees, flooding or similar issues, residents can report them through the City's mobile-friendly online Public Works Request Center at data.naperville.il.us/pages/request-center.

The special citywide brush collection is expected to be completed in a timely manner and the City will announce when it is complete. Residents are urged to take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of their yard waste and debris properly.
