MonaLesa Brackett Makes History as the First & Only Muslim Hijabi to Compete at Miss USA 2025

Competing in a Hijab and Burkini, She is Redefining American Beauty Standards on the National Stage
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Rezul -- MonaLesa Brackett, an entrepreneur, educator, and celebrated community leader, is set to make history as Miss New Hampshire USA 2025 when she competes for the coveted Miss USA title on October 24, 2025.
MonaLesa's journey to the national stage is inspirational. She is the first and only Muslim HIjabi to ever compete in the Miss USA national pageant. She is committed to competing in full modest attire, including a hijab and a burkini for the swimwear segment, directly challenging and expanding traditional perceptions of beauty, faith, and womanhood on a global platform.
Her upcoming appearance follows a highly successful and trailblazing run at the Miss New York USA 2025 pageant in August, where she placed as Second Runner-Up - making history as the first Hijabi to make the top 5. After that top-three finish, her path to Miss USA seemed to have reached its conclusion this year. However, a unique opportunity arose when the Miss USA organization announced an open call for several states, including New Hampshire, that had not yet crowned a winner for the 2025 competition.

Seizing the unexpected chance, Brackett applied and was officially selected as Miss New Hampshire USA 2025.
"When I came short of the title at New York USA, I was grateful for the experience and proud to have made history and immediately began strategizing for next year's competition," said MonaLesa Brackett. "Seeing the open submissions was a sign that my journey wasn't meant to end yet. On the contrary, it seemed God was saving me for a bigger blessing and He opened a new door to Miss USA for me. I'm honored to show women of all ages that their time isn't up and I want all unique people to know it's ok to be bold, expressive and chase your dreams on the biggest stage."
The 36-year-old titleholder is a powerful advocate both on and off the stage, driven by a decade-long absence from pageantry and the recent removal of the age cap by the Miss USA organization. She is the founder of The Real Estate Fairy, where she is dedicated to helping homeless individuals and housing voucher holders secure stable homes.
