Maryland: PUBLIC NOTICE: Unscheduled Mosquito Control Activity to Occur in Baltimore County and Prince George's County on September 20
Rezul News/10745971
ANNAPOLIS, MD (September 18, 2026) ~ Annapolis, MD - The Maryland Department of Agriculture (MDA) has announced plans to expand mosquito control services in certain areas due to concerns over potential mosquito-borne diseases. This decision comes in cooperation with the Baltimore County Health Department and the Prince George's County Health Department.
On Sunday, September 20, 2026, the MDA's Mosquito Control Program will conduct Ultra-Low Volume truck-based spraying in two locations: Nottingham and Laurel. The Nottingham spraying will cover an area from Hartford Road to Oak White Road to Magledt Road and back to Harford Road, while the Laurel spraying will cover an area from Montgomery Street to Baltimore-Washington Boulevard to Nest Court to First Baptist Lane. A map of the affected areas can be found below.
The spraying is scheduled for after 9:00 p.m. ET in both locations, but may be rescheduled for Monday, September 21, 2026 if there is inclement weather. Any existing spray exemptions in these areas will be temporarily suspended.

The MDA's Mosquito Control Program personnel will use a permethrin-based solution that has been approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for use in public health mosquito control programs without posing unreasonable risks to human health. However, as a precautionary measure, the MDA recommends that residents avoid outdoor activities during the spraying.
While not all mosquitoes carry diseases, the MDA advises residents to take precautions to minimize their exposure to mosquito bites. These measures include wearing long, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing; using insect repellents according to product labels; avoiding mosquito-infested areas during peak activity times (dusk and dawn); installing and regularly inspecting window and door screens; cleaning bird baths and pet bowls regularly; and removing or emptying any water-holding containers.
Residents can find routine spray program schedules by county on the program's website. For any questions or concerns about the spraying, please contact MDA's Mosquito Control Program at (410) 841-5870.
