Rezul News/10739523
Long Beach, CA ~ Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) is excited to announce the upcoming California State Parks Outdoor Youth Connection Camp for teens ages 13 to 17. This free three-day, two-night training camp will take place from August 7th to 9th, 2026 at Castaic Lake.
The camp aims to use outdoor experiences to develop important skills in leadership, communication, self-esteem and team building for participating teens. Mayor Rex Richardson expressed his enthusiasm for the camp, stating that it is "an incredible opportunity for our teens to step into nature, discover new strengths and build confidence." He also emphasized the city's commitment to empowering young people through leadership, teamwork and time in nature.
The Outdoor Youth Connection Camp is a collaborative effort between PRM's Teen Center Program and various agencies across California. It offers a unique blend of engaging and fun leadership development activities along with an introduction to State Parks and outdoor recreation. The camp is designed to foster and build leadership development, confidence and dedication to the community. After completing the camp, Long Beach teens will have the tools and experiences necessary to organize a community service project and outdoor recreational activity.
