Local Firefighter Allen Stewart Launches Hook & Needle Embroidery in Brunswick
Rezul News/10748432
BRUNSWICK, Ga. - Rezul -- What started as an interest in learning a new craft has grown into a local business for Allen Stewart, founder and owner of Hook & Needle Embroidery LLC. Stewart launched Hook & Needle Embroidery in 2026 after his interest in embroidery grew from a hobby into something he wanted to pursue as a business.
"It really started from my interest in creating things and wanting to learn embroidery," Stewart said. "Once I got into it, I realized how much you can actually do with embroidery and how personal you can make something." As Stewart continued learning, he began experimenting with different projects and expanding his skills. What began with creating individual pieces eventually developed into Hook & Needle Embroidery LLC.
"I started making things, learning more, taking on different projects, and eventually it became Hook & Needle Embroidery LLC," Stewart said. "I'm still learning all the time, and I think that's part of what keeps me interested in it." The Hook & Needle name and branding also have a personal connection to Stewart, who is a firefighter. His firefighting background helped inspire the business name and is represented in the company's logo.

Today, Hook & Needle creates custom embroidered hats, shirts, bags, gifts, home items, business apparel and other personalized pieces. Customers can provide their own items for embroidery or work with Hook & Needle to source items for their projects. For Stewart, the quality of the finished piece is one of the most important parts of every project. "What I really want people to know is that I care about the finished product," Stewart said. "I'm probably my own biggest critic, and if I wouldn't be happy receiving it, I don't want to hand it to a customer."
Some of his favorite projects are those connected to meaningful occasions, including an embroidered pillow he recently created for his cousin's wedding featuring the couple's names and wedding date. "I really enjoyed doing that because I knew it was something made specifically for them and something they could keep," he said. "Those kinds of projects are probably my favorite because they become more than just embroidery." That feeling is something Stewart hopes to create with every order. "I want them to feel like somebody actually took their time with it," Stewart said. "I want them to be excited when they see it and notice the little details."
