~ Idaho Falls Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 114 W 33rd N today at approximately 12:30 p.m. after receiving reports of large flames coming from a metal shop. The fire was quickly contained by the fire crews.

Upon arrival, Engine 1 found two portable storage structures actively burning with visible smoke and flames. Engine 6 arrived shortly after and began fire suppression with an initial attack line. Ladder 1 also arrived on the scene and pulled a second hose line to attack the fire in the second structure.

To ensure a steady water supply, Engine 2 and Engine 5 established water supply to Engine 6. Both ambulances on site assisted the engine and ladder crews with fire suppression operations.

Thanks to the swift response and efforts of the firefighters, the fire was quickly knocked down. Crews then proceeded to complete salvage and overhaul operations, as well as inspecting both structures for any signs of fire extension.

The two structures involved were portable storage facilities, consisting of two Connex-style containers with a tarp roof and a semi-truck trailer positioned on the ground. It has been reported that one of the structures contained a boiler, but it is yet to be confirmed if this equipment played a role in igniting the fire.

A request was made for a fire investigator and a water tender to be present at the scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
