PLANT CITY, Fla., January 29, 2026
— The Timothy Initiative Ministries, Inc. announced today that it has secured 10 acres of land in Plant City, marking a major milestone in the organization's long-term vision to expand its ministry through farm-based programming and structured work opportunities for men in crisis.

The expansion comes amid continued pressure across the Tampa Bay region, where nearly 1,900 individuals were experiencing homelessness in Hillsborough County alone, according to the 2024 Point-in-Time Count—many of whom face heightened risk of relapse, unemployment, and recidivism without stable housing and structured support.

The property will be developed in phases and will serve as the foundation for a horticulture-centered Work Therapy Program. The farm is intended to provide routine, responsibility, and hands-on stewardship for men rebuilding their lives after homelessness, incarceration, or substance use disorder. Animal care and daily stewardship routines will be integrated into the Work Therapy Program to reinforce consistency, responsibility, and healthy relationships through hands-on service.

"This land represents far more than acreage," said Brad Ewert, Executive Director of The Timothy Initiative Ministries, Inc. "It represents dignity, purpose, and the opportunity for men to see tangible results from their work. When men are trusted with responsibility and a place to grow, it changes the trajectory of their lives."

Site preparations will begin this week, with the first group of men expected to move onto the property during the first week of February. Initial development will focus on preparing the property for program use, including infrastructure, furnishings, and early agricultural activity. Over time, the farm will support daily work routines, life-skills development, and long-term program sustainability.

As development begins, The Timothy Initiative Ministries, Inc. is launching a phased "Fund the Farm" effort to bring the property into full operation. Current priorities include:
  • Furniture for residential and common space
  • 10-person van
  • Purchase of livestock and working animals tied to daily stewardship routines
  • Funding for infrastructure and program development
Across the Tampa Bay area, workforce reentry and housing stabilization remain critical gaps, particularly for men exiting homelessness, incarceration, or recovery programs without access to structured daily work and long-term support.

The organization plans to share updates as milestones are reached, documenting the transformation of the land from initial preparation to full program activation.
