Governor Polis Takes Action to Keep Colorado Communities Safe, Support Ongoing Disaster Emergency Recovery Efforts

Rezul News/10735140
DENVER ~ In a move to ensure the safety of Colorado communities, Governor Polis has taken executive action by amending previous executive orders for multiple fires and disasters across the state. These include the Gageby Creek Fire, Grizzly Creek and Red Canyon Fire, Cameron Peak Fire, Mullen Fire, East Troublesome Fire, Calwood Fire, Marshall Fire, June 2023 Severe Weather and Flooding, and a Hazardous Materials Incident in Pueblo County.

The amended executive order provides additional funds for some of these disasters by utilizing unused funds originally allocated to the June 2023 Severe Weather and Flooding disaster. This decision comes in light of the devastating natural disasters that have hit Colorado in recent years.

Governor Polis emphasized the importance of keeping communities safe and informed before and after disasters strike. He stated that no Coloradan should have to face these challenges alone.

In addition to this action, Governor Polis also signed an Executive Order to memorialize his verbal disaster declaration from April 13th, 2026. This declaration was made to support fire suppression and recovery efforts for the Schwachheim Fire near Trinidad in Las Animas County.

With these measures in place, Governor Polis hopes to provide necessary resources for recovery efforts across the state and ensure that Colorado communities are equipped to handle any future disasters.
