Governor Abbott Receives TPPF Ronald Reagan Award For Successful Conservative Stewardship Of Texas
Rezul News/10732106
~ Last night, Governor Greg Abbott was honored with the Texas Public Policy Foundation's Ronald Reagan Award for his conservative leadership and for launching the largest day-one school choice program in America. The award was presented during the annual award dinner at the Texas Policy Summit.
During his acceptance speech, Governor Abbott emphasized the importance of freedom in policy and democracy. He stated that school choice is about giving parents the freedom to choose the best education pathway for their child. He also credited the passing of school choice as a victory for everyone involved, including elected officials, advocates, and parents.
The Governor highlighted the overwhelming demand for school choice in Texas, with over 270,000 students applying for Texas Education Freedom Accounts. These accounts prioritize students with disabilities and from low-income families. This milestone showcases parents' desire for more control over their children's education.

Governor Abbott also made it clear that Texas is not finished yet. The state will continue to focus on education through legislation and investments in career and technical education. With these efforts, Texas is on track to become the top state in the nation for educating students.
In addition to receiving the Ronald Reagan Award, Governor Abbott was joined by First Lady Cecilia Abbott, TPPF CEO Greg Sindelar, and other state officials and education leaders at the dinner.
The Ronald Reagan Award is given to conservative leaders who champion limited government, free markets, and individual liberty – principles that have contributed to Texas' success.
