The Council will focus on two main areas: implementing executive actions that can immediately reduce regulatory burdens and red tape surrounding workforce development, and presenting policy and legislative recommendations to the Governor and Legislature ahead of the 90th Legislative Session. The Council will deliver a final report in November 2026 outlining their proposed executive actions and legislative proposals to strengthen Texas' workforce development system.

Governor Abbott's commitment to this issue is evident as he believes that this partnership between business and labor will benefit all Texans. "We are unified on a mission that benefits all Texans," he stated. "A mission that will keep Texas number one for business, jobs, and workforce training, ensuring great careers for generations of Texans."

The Council's inaugural meeting was a success, with additional photos of the event available for viewing. This is just the beginning of what promises to be a fruitful collaboration between business, labor, and the state government in strengthening Texas' workforce development initiatives.
