Governor Abbott Deploys Texas Emergency Management Resources To Support Alaska Flood Recovery
Rezul News/10717945
~ In response to the devastating typhoon and subsequent flooding in Alaska, Governor Greg Abbott has deployed emergency management resources from Texas to assist with ongoing recovery efforts. This decision was made following a request from Alaska's Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
Governor Abbott expressed his sympathy for those affected by the natural disaster, stating, "Our hearts are with all Americans in Alaska who have been devastated by a typhoon that led to days of flooding." He also emphasized the importance of providing aid to those in need, saying, "Texas will continue to work to help ensure the safety and well-being of those impacted by the typhoon and flooding."
At the direction of Governor Abbott, personnel from the Texas Division of Emergency Management have been deployed to assist with various tasks at Alaska's Emergency Operations Center and in the field. These roles include coordinating with voluntary agencies and managing volunteers and donations.

This deployment is made possible through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), a state-to-state mutual aid system that allows states to provide assistance and share resources during times of disaster or emergency. This deployment is in addition to ongoing flood response and recovery operations in Texas following severe flooding in July.
EMAC enables member states to share resources from all disciplines, protect personnel who are deployed, and be reimbursed for related costs. For more information on EMAC, visit emacweb.org.
Governor Abbott expressed his gratitude towards first responders and emergency management personnel who are working tirelessly to support their fellow Americans in need. The deployment of Texas resources is just one example of how states can come together during times of crisis to provide aid and support for those affected by natural disasters.
