The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) Chairman Thomas Gleeson also highlighted the significance of this grant in light of growing power demand throughout the state. He stated that investments in reliability projects are crucial for reinforcing Texans' trust in a dependable power supply.

The project funded by this grant will involve replacing 30 aging breakers across eight electrical substations. This upgrade is expected to benefit members in Deaf Smith Electric Cooperative's service territory, which includes parts of Castro, Oldham, Parmer, and Deaf Smith Counties.

The PUCT oversees the TxEF Outside ERCOT Grant Program, which provides funding for projects aimed at improving electric reliability and resiliency for Texans served by electric utilities outside the ERCOT region. More information about this program and others offered by TxEF can be found on the PUCT's website.
