Gov. Little appoints Judge Jason Scott to Idaho Supreme Court

Boise, Idaho – Governor Brad Little announced today his appointment of Judge Jason Scott to serve on the Idaho Supreme Court.
"Judge Scott has dedicated his career to the law and to serving the people of Idaho. His experience as a practicing attorney and a district judge gives him a strong understanding of both the courtroom and the broader legal system. I am confident he will bring thoughtful judgment, a strong work ethic, and a deep commitment to the rule of law to the Idaho Supreme Court," Governor Little said.
Scott is an Idaho native. He earned an undergraduate degree in accounting from Idaho State University and after passing the CPA examination, attended the Duke University School of Law, where he obtained a law degree in 1997.
After law school, Scott returned to Idaho and clerked for a U.S. District Judge. He spent approximately 15 years at the Idaho law firm Hawley Troxell, including his final seven years as a partner. His practice focused primarily on civil litigation, with an emphasis on business-related disputes.

In 2014, Scott was appointed a District Judge in Idaho's Fourth Judicial District. Although he is chambered in Ada County, he also serves as the presiding district judge in Valley County.
"For twelve years, I've given my all to serving the people of Idaho as a district judge. I'm grateful to Governor Little for entrusting me with the opportunity to continue in public service as a justice of the Idaho Supreme Court. I will always perform the duties of the office to the best of my ability, and I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues on the Court to decide cases with the utmost care and fidelity to the law," Judge Scott said.
Scott will fill the vacancy on the Idaho Supreme Court created by the upcoming retirement of Chief Justice Richard Bevan, effective Oct. 30, 2026. The Idaho Supreme Court just selected Justice Robyn Brody to serve as Chief Justice after Bevan retires.
