Georgia: Gov. Kemp: Virginia Transformer to Create 400 Jobs in Effingham Expansion
Rezul News/10720960
ATLANTA ~ In a major economic boost for Effingham County, Governor Brian P. Kemp announced today that Virginia Transformer Corp. will be investing $40 million to expand its existing manufacturing facility near Rincon. This expansion is expected to create over 400 new jobs in the area.
Governor Kemp expressed his pride in this decision by Virginia Transformer, stating that it is a testament to the strong partnership between the state and local leaders in the coastal region. He also congratulated the company on their exciting announcement and looks forward to the positive impact it will have on the Rincon and Effingham County communities.
The Georgia Transformer facility in Rincon specializes in manufacturing custom-designed large power transformers for various industries such as utilities, data centers, and renewable energy sectors. The state-of-the-art facility spans over 250,000 square feet and produces transformers ranging from 30 MegaVolt-Amperes (MVA) to 500 MVA at up to 525 kilovolts. This expansion is just one of many investments made by Virginia Transformer since it became part of the company in 2015.

Speaker Jon Burns also expressed his gratitude towards Virginia Transformer for their commitment to expanding their presence in Georgia. He believes that this investment comes at a critical time as the region continues to face challenges due to recent mill closures and job losses. The new job opportunities created by this project will be a welcome addition for citizens of Effingham County.
Virginia Transformer CEO Prabhat Jain stated that their focus on delivering for customers has been key to their growth as the largest U.S.-owned producer of power transformers in North America. He also mentioned that this additional investment will further solidify their position as an engineering company with short lead times for transformer production.
The expansion project is set to begin construction in January 2026 at the Georgia Transformer production facility located at 2789 GA-21 in Effingham County. Interested applicants can apply for positions in operations, maintenance, and assembly at Rincon Jobs on Indeed.com. More information can also be found on the company's website, www.vatransformer.com.
