Free Tool Lets Homeowners Check for Lead Water Pipes by Address
Rezul News/10745555
Site aggregates EPA-mandated utility lead service line disclosures from 40+ states into one searchable lookup, free with no account required.
ST. LOUIS - Rezul -- Lead Pipe Check has launched a free tool that lets homeowners, buyers, and renters search official government lead service line inventory data by street address.
Under the EPA's Lead and Copper Rule Revisions, water utilities across the United States have been required to publish inventories identifying which service lines are made of lead, galvanized steel, copper, or remain unclassified. While this data is technically public, it is scattered across hundreds of individual city and utility websites in inconsistent formats, making it difficult for the average resident to find or interpret. Many people have no practical way to check their own address, even when the data already exists.

Lead Pipe Check consolidates that public data into a single, searchable tool. Users can enter any address in a covered area and instantly see what the local water utility has reported about their service line material, along with a citation to the original government source behind every result. The tool currently covers more than 40 U.S. states, provinces, and territories, with coverage expanding as more utilities publish their required inventories.
Basic address lookups are free and require no account. Optional paid add-ons are available for bulk lookups, useful for real estate and property management purposes, as well as ongoing address monitoring that notifies users if their utility updates its records for a specific address.
"A lot of this data is genuinely public, but that doesn't mean anyone can actually find it," said Ryan Willer, founder of Lead Pipe Check. "The goal of this project is to make it as simple as typing in an address."
