Florida: Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Seven to the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ~ In a recent announcement, Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed four new members and reappointed three existing members to the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. The commission is responsible for setting standards and providing training for law enforcement officers in the state of Florida.
One of the newly appointed members is Peter Crocitto, who currently serves as the Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer at Keiser University. With a strong background in education, Crocitto has previously served on the Commission for Independent Education, the Career College Association, and the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administration. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Fort Lauderdale College and a master's degree in business administration from the New York Institute of Technology.
Joining Crocitto on the commission is Jo Culberson, who brings over 20 years of experience in law enforcement to her role. Culberson currently serves as the Director of the Northwest Florida State College Public Safety Training Center and has previously held positions as a Law Enforcement Training Coordinator and Sergeant of Police at Northwest Florida State College. She also has experience as a Deputy Sheriff and School Resource Officer for the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office. Culberson holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of West Florida.

Nan Jeffcoat, another newly appointed member, brings her expertise as a Warden for the Florida Department of Corrections to the commission. She has also served as an Assistant Warden for the department and worked as a Victim Advocate for the Eighth Circuit State Attorney's Office. Jeffcoat earned her bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Central Florida.
The final new member appointed by Governor DeSantis is David Vincent, who currently serves as Citrus County Sheriff. In addition to his law enforcement career, Vincent is also actively involved in his community through his role on YMCA of Suncoast Board of Directors and his graduation from FBI National Academy. He holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Florida Gulf Coast University.
Among the reappointed members is Christopher Nebbeling, a Patrol Officer, Instructor, and Range Master with the West Palm Beach Police Department. Nebbeling brings his experience as a Florida Department of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor, Master Taser Instructor, Driving Instructor, and Defensive Tactics Instructor to the commission. He is also a veteran of the United States Army and holds a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Phoenix.

James "Randy" Reaves, who has been in law enforcement for over 20 years, has also been reappointed to the commission. Reaves currently serves as a Sergeant with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and is also the President of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5-30 in Jacksonville. He holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Auburn University.
The final reappointed member is Edgar Rosa, who currently serves as a Correctional Sergeant with the Orange County Corrections Department. Rosa has been an active member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 86 since 2004 and currently serves as its President. He holds a Corrections Officer Certification from Valencia College.
With these new appointments and reappointments, Governor DeSantis aims to continue promoting excellence and professionalism within Florida's law enforcement community through the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.
