Event Raises $40,000 for HBA DOC Scholarship Program

DURHAM, N.C. - Rezul -- In its 60th anniversary year, the Home Builders Association of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties (HBA DOC) is proud to announce that its annual Casino Night and Auction raised $40,000, the highest amount to date, for the HBA DOC Scholarship Program. This year's event, held at the PNC Triangle Club at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, was a fun-filled night of games, prizes and more, all designed to raise money for high school students of Durham, Orange, and Chatham Counties as they pursue higher education in the trades. Sponsors included 84 Lumber, Mebane Lumber/Wendell Building Supply, Insurance People of NC, Truist, Talbert Building Supply, Wetlands, Triple A, Kinetico-Advanced Water Systems, PBS, Movement Mortgage, West & Woodall/Matt Lawing, and Fifth Third Bank. The HBA DOC Foundation has awarded nearly $300,000 to area students pursuing a career in the trades since the foundation was established in 1998. The HBA Foundation Board of Directors works as a separate entity of the larger association, with several of these members having served since the inception of the Foundation. "Meeting these students, the future of our industry, is why I have served on this board for over 20 years" states Michele Myers of M Squared Builders, the Vice Chair of the HBA Foundation. HBA CEO and Foundation Executive Director Holly Fraccaro shares, "I could not be more proud to serve the HBA of Durham, Orange & Chatham Counties and its Foundation. The charitable spirit of this association was the ultimate decision-making factor for me in accepting this position."
Founded in 1962, the HBA DOC is affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders and the North Carolina Home Builders Association. It has more than 600 members who are builders, developers, subcontractors, suppliers, and professionals in businesses related to residential construction.
