Evansville: Traffic Changes Coming as Cross Pointe Roundabout and INDOT4U Projects Enter Next Phases
Rezul News/10747296
EVANSVILLE, Ind. ~ ### Cross Pointe Roundabout project to change traffic patterns Oct. 5
The Cross Pointe Roundabout project is expected to enter Phase 2A on or after Monday, Oct. 5, changing traffic patterns on Cross Pointe Boulevard.
Northbound and southbound traffic will shift to the east side of the road, using portions of the roundabout already built. Drivers traveling south on Cross Pointe Boulevard will be able to turn west onto Indiana Street, but eastbound access from Indiana Street to Cross Pointe Boulevard will be prohibited.
Customers visiting businesses along Indiana Street will need to leave heading west, using the access road near Kohl's to reach Burkhardt Road or Virginia Street.

Separately, the INDOT4U project at Lloyd Expressway and Burkhardt Road is expected to enter its next phase in a couple of weeks. The work will further restrict southbound Burkhardt Avenue traffic and prohibit right turns.
A signed detour for westbound Lloyd Expressway traffic from Burkhardt Road will direct drivers via Virginia Street and Green River Road. Signal timing at Virginia Street and Green River Road will be adjusted to accommodate additional traffic.
City Engineer Brian Mundy acknowledged the projects may inconvenience residents and travelers, and thanked the public for its patience. He said the roundabout improvements are intended to improve traffic flow and roadway safety.
Work schedules depend on weather. Drivers should expect delays, use caution and consider alternate routes when possible.
