Rezul News/10725236
~ The Evansville Board of Public Works has taken a significant step towards improving regional transit service by approving an agreement with the Evansville Metropolitan Planning Organization. The agreement will allow the city to participate in a Regional Transit Feasibility Study, which will examine the potential creation of a Regional Transit Authority serving Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Warrick County, and Henderson, Kentucky.
The study aims to evaluate whether a regional approach could enhance service and efficiency by aligning public transportation with residents' actual travel patterns across municipal boundaries. The total cost of the study is $199,994, with 80 percent funded by federal transportation sources and the remaining 20 percent shared among participating local governments.
