Emerald Technology Partners Advances Patented Kinetic Energy Technology Toward Commercialization

CLEARWATER, Fla. - Rezul -- Emerald Technology Partners, LLC (ETP) is advancing its patented Kinetic Energy Conversion System (KECS), a technology designed to convert mechanical motion into usable electrical power, as the company moves toward commercialization in refrigerated transportation and evaluates additional transportation and energy applications.

Originally developed more than a decade ago, KECS has already been demonstrated in a working refrigerated transportation application. A 2022 California Air Resources Board technology assessment documented an Emerald Technologies demonstration involving a temperature-controlled trailer equipped with a battery-electric transport refrigeration unit and kinetic energy generation technology. According to the assessment, the system generated enough power to operate the electric refrigeration unit while simultaneously charging an onboard battery, with the demonstration operating without diesel fuel.

ETP is now bringing the technology forward with a renewed focus on commercialization, strategic relationships, engineering and manufacturing development, and potential applications across multiple industries.

"KECS was developed at a time when the transportation industry was not yet ready for the technology," said Steven Gould, CEO of Emerald Technology Partners. The renewed focus comes as the transportation refrigeration industry continues to accelerate its transition toward electrification. In July 2026, Carrier Transicold launched [R]eCool, a 38.5-kWh battery system designed to power electric and hybrid trailer refrigeration units, including retrofit applications. Carrier has continued to expand its electrification portfolio throughout 2026, including additional electric refrigeration and energy-generation technologies.
