(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Sewer Utility Plans Public Meeting for Proposed Sewer Improvement Project

The City of Columbia Sewer Utility has announced a public information meeting to discuss a proposed sewer improvement project near the intersection of South West Boulevard and West Stewart Road. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 21 from 5-6:30 p.m. in Conference Room 1A at City Hall.

According to the Utility, the proposed project aims to replace the privately maintained sewer system for property owners near the intersection. If approved, a new public sanitary sewer will be constructed to serve these customers.

This project is part of the Utility's Private Common Collector Elimination (PCCE) project, which began in 2008. The replacement of outdated private sewers and connection to publicly maintained sewers will help reduce inflow and infiltration of stormwater into the sanitary sewer system. This, in turn, will decrease the occurrence of backups and overflows.
