Columbia Police respond to shots fired on Parker Street

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police responded to a shots fired call on the morning of January 14th at the 3300 block of Parker Street. According to the investigation, Travis Peterson, a 44-year-old resident of Columbia, was involved in a domestic disturbance and had fired a gun. Fortunately, no one was injured by the shot. Peterson then retreated into a nearby residence and barricaded himself inside.
After several hours of negotiation, Peterson eventually surrendered to authorities without incident or injury. He has since been charged with multiple offenses including domestic assault in the first degree, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, harassment in the first degree, and resisting arrest.

The Columbia Police Department would like to extend their gratitude to the Columbia Fire Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Boone County Hospital for their assistance during this tense situation.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward and contact the Columbia Police Department at 573.874.7652.
