Columbia Police arrest suspect for July 25 shooting

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police responded to a shots-fired call on July 25 at approximately 10 p.m. at the 300 block of North Providence Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. During the investigation, officers also found a second adult victim who had been struck by gunfire but did not require medical attention.

After nearly a week of investigation, authorities were able to make an arrest in connection with the shooting. On August 3, Lenn Dukes, 42, of Columbia, was taken into custody in Lincoln County on charges of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree assault, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

The Columbia Police Department would like to extend their gratitude to the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force and the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office for their assistance in coordinating with their Street Crimes Unit to apprehend Dukes.

The case number for this incident is 2026-007063 and Dukes is being charged under Missouri Statutes including armed criminal action (571.015), unlawful use of a weapon (571.030), assault in the first degree (565.050), and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon (571.070).
