Columbia Police arrest juveniles for vehicle break-ins on Monterey Drive, Sieville Avenue

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police have made significant progress in solving a string of vehicle break-ins that occurred on July 28th in the early hours of the morning. According to reports, more than 13 vehicles were targeted on Monterey Drive and Sieville Avenue.

After receiving multiple reports of suspicious activity, officers were able to locate and arrest three juveniles who were allegedly checking vehicle doors in the area. The juveniles attempted to flee on foot but one was apprehended in the 3500 block of Sierra Madre. During the arrest, officers also discovered a stolen firearm hidden in nearby bushes.

Further investigation led police to obtain a search warrant for a residence on Lynnwood Drive on July 31st. Two additional juveniles were arrested at this location and more stolen items were recovered.

The three juveniles are facing charges of second-degree burglary, felony stealing, misdemeanor stealing, and felony resisting arrest. The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact the Columbia Police Department or CrimeStoppers.

According to Missouri statutes, second-degree burglary carries a penalty of up to 15 years in prison, while stealing can result in up to seven years behind bars. Resisting or interfering with arrest is also considered a serious offense under state law.

Individuals who provide information leading to an arrest may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,500 through CrimeStoppers. The case number for this incident is 2026-007139.
