Columbia Police arrest Columbia man for child sex offenses

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Police have arrested 38-year-old Zachary Hutchinson of Columbia on Jan. 21 for child sex crimes. The arrest came after officers received a report on Jan. 15 about a potentially inappropriate relationship between Hutchinson and a female juvenile.
According to the press release, patrol officers initially took the report and then handed over the case to the Criminal Investigations Division's Special Victims Unit for further investigation. Hutchinson was arrested without incident and multiple search warrants were executed to collect evidence.
Hutchinson was employed by Columbia Public Schools at the time of the alleged incidents, but investigators have determined that he did not meet the victim through his employment and there was no known contact on school property. However, they are seeking to speak with anyone who may have had similar contact with Hutchinson or has any relevant information about the case.

Individuals with information are urged to contact the Columbia Police Department's Special Victims Unit. The department assures that all reports will be handled with professionalism and discretion.
Hutchinson is facing multiple charges including child molestation in the fourth-degree, three counts of statutory sodomy in the second-degree, attempted enticement of a child, enabling sexual exploitation of a minor, furnishing pornographic material, promoting child pornography in the second-degree and possession of child pornography.
