Columbia Fire Department responds to vehicle extrication, Feb. 18

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia Fire Department (CFD) companies were called to the scene of a vehicle collision on Smiley Lane on Wednesday morning. At 8:38 a.m., firefighters arrived to find a rolled-over vehicle dangerously perched on a landscaped wall. The occupant, an adult, was trapped inside.

According to reports, the CFD companies responded quickly and arrived at the scene within six minutes. They immediately began stabilizing the vehicle and confirmed that there was one person trapped inside. Additional companies were called in to assist with the extrication process.

Despite challenging conditions, the CFD teams were able to safely remove the occupant from the vehicle in less than 10 minutes. The individual was then transferred to paramedics who were waiting on standby.

A total of two CFD companies, along with one Battalion Chief and a Safety Officer, totaling eight personnel, responded to this incident. No further details have been released at this time.
