(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - As the holiday season approaches, the City of Columbia has announced that its offices will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 25 and Thursday, Jan. 1 in observance of Christmas Day and New Year's Day respectively. This closure will also impact several city services.
Residents are advised that there will be no residential curbside trash collection on the observed holidays. Instead, collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week. To stay updated on collection schedules, residents can download the COMO Recycle and Trash App or contact the Contact Center at 573.874.CITY (2489). The landfill will also be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.
For those looking to dispose of live trees after the holidays, they can be dropped off at one of the city's yard waste drop-off centers: Capen Park, Parkside or the landfill. Alternatively, customers can cut their trees into smaller pieces to fit into their roll cart. However, artificial trees and wreaths should be disposed of with regular trash as they are not recyclable.
