Colorado Tourism Office Unveils Innovative Fruita Welcome Center
Rezul News/10735103
DENVER ~ The Fruita Welcome Center in Fruita, Colorado has officially reopened its doors to the public after undergoing a major renovation. The center, which is operated by the Colorado Tourism Office (CTO), a division of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), has been transformed into a modern and interactive space designed to enhance the visitor experience while still maintaining the warm and welcoming atmosphere that defines Colorado hospitality.
Governor Polis expressed his excitement for the new center, stating that it will improve the experience for both Coloradans and visitors alike. He also emphasized the importance of tourism in strengthening local economies, creating jobs, and showcasing why Colorado is considered one of the best states in the nation.
Eve Lieberman, Executive Director of OEDIT, echoed this sentiment, stating that welcome centers play a crucial role in supporting strong tourism which in turn strengthens local economies by supporting small businesses and shaping how visitors experience the state. She also expressed her enthusiasm for celebrating the reopening of the Fruita Welcome Center, which will promote responsible travel and support economic growth.

Originally opened in 1987, the newly renovated Fruita Welcome Center was designed with traveler insights in mind. The theme of "bringing the outside-in" is evident throughout the center, which aims to enhance every stage of the visitor journey. From finding the center and navigating through it to inspiring travelers to explore more of Colorado and share their experiences.
The center offers a blend of physical and digital experiences through interactive trip-planning tools, a community screen highlighting local events, and family-friendly educational activities such as a whitewater rafting game and dino dig. However, despite these modern updates, one thing remains unchanged -the personal touch provided by Welcome Center staff and volunteers who continue to offer a complimentary cup of coffee to all visitors.
Timothy Wolfe, Director of CTO, emphasized that Welcome Centers play a critical role in helping travelers discover destinations, communities, and experiences throughout the state. He also noted that as visitor expectations evolve, the centers are evolving alongside them. The Fruita Welcome Center serves as a prime example of this evolution and will serve as inspiration for future remodels and new Welcome Center designs.
