Colorado Springs: Sinton Trail improvements complete, enhancing safety and accessibility for trail users
Rezul News/10723603
~ Colorado Springs, CO - The Sinton Trail has undergone significant improvements, providing a smoother and safer experience for residents and visitors. The upgraded segment, located between Holland Park Boulevard and North Chestnut Street, reopened to the public about a month ago and has already been well-received by walkers, bicyclists, runners, and other trail users.
The project was completed by the City's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department with the goal of enhancing comfort and long-term reliability along this heavily used corridor. The deteriorating asphalt was replaced with a durable concrete surface, addressing maintenance issues and ensuring the trail can withstand year-round use. Additionally, grading and drainage enhancements were made to improve accessibility for users of all ages and abilities.

One of the major improvements made to the Sinton Trail was the removal of an abandoned overhead water line that had created inaccessible grades along the trail. This not only posed a safety concern for users but also hindered navigation. With this obstacle removed, the trail now offers easier connections within the City's broader trail system.
According to Emily Duncan, Trails Development Coordinator for the City of Colorado Springs, these upgrades were designed with long-term durability and accessibility in mind. "The Sinton Trail is an important recreational and transportation connection for this part of the city," she stated. "We're pleased to reopen this section and provide trail users with a safer, smoother experience they can enjoy for years to come."
Funding for this project was made possible through the Pikes Peak Rural Transportation Authority (PPRTA II), a voter-approved regional transportation initiative. This investment in improving the Sinton Trail will benefit both residents and visitors alike as they explore all that Colorado Springs has to offer.
