Colorado: Governor Polis Applauds Decision on Shoshone Water Rights Decision

DENVER ~ In a recent decision, the Colorado Water Conservation Board voted to move forward with the acquisition of Shoshone water rights, as announced by Governor Jared Polis. This move aims to secure two crucial water rights associated with the Shoshone Power Plant, including one of the state's most significant Colorado River water rights. The governor emphasized the importance of this decision, stating that thousands of Coloradans, as well as local fish and wildlife, rely on this water source daily. He also noted that this is a significant step towards balancing competing demands for hydropower, environmental protection, agriculture, and recreation while providing west slope water users with more certainty about their future water security.
