Colorado: Canadian Nutritional Ingredient Manufacturer, Bioriginal, Establishes U.S. Presence in Grand Junction

GRAND JUNCTION – A Canadian-based manufacturer of nutritional ingredients, Bioriginal Food & Science Corp., has selected Grand Junction, Colorado, as the site of its newest U.S. expansion following a competitive site selection process. The expansion is expected to support job growth and increased manufacturing activity as Bioriginal invests in domestic production to better serve customers across the western United States.

Headquartered in Saskatoon, Canada, with facilities throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia, Bioriginal specializes in manufacturing nutritional supplements, including softgels, tinctures, bulk ingredients, and private- and white-label solutions for human and pet nutrition markets. The company's expansion through the acquisition of Grand Junction–based Softgel Co. establishes a new U.S. based production facility, improving service levels and reducing lead times while integrating the operation into Bioriginal's global supply network.

"Bioriginal's investment is enabling Softgel Co. to expand our team and build on the strong manufacturing foundation in Grand Junction. With new technology and increased capacity, we're better positioned to support U.S. customers, strengthen Bioriginal's footprint, and deliver high-quality production to a growing number of customers," said Chad Stephens, Plant Manager for Softgel Co.

Bioriginal selected Grand Junction due to the availability of an established manufacturing facility, a highly skilled workforce, and a business environment well-suited for nutraceutical production. The location enables the company to strengthen vertical integration, improve supply chain efficiency, and build upon existing local manufacturing expertise. In 2026, Bioriginal plans to invest approximately $2 million in the Grand Junction facility to enable high-speed softgel production, expand manufacturing capacity, improve lead times, reduce costs, and support increased headcount.

Bioriginal Food & Science Corp's expansion in Grand Junction is anticipated to create at least 20 new primary jobs over eight years, and received approval from the Colorado Economic Development Commission for the Job Growth Incentive Tax Credit, a performance-based incentive to support competitive, multi-state, or county relocation and expansion projects, providing Colorado state income tax credit equal to 50% of FICA (Federal Insurance Contributions Act) tax paid by the company per net new job for each calendar year in the credit period. These incentives are contingent upon Bioriginal Food & Science Corp., referred to as Project Moose throughout the OEDIT review process, meeting net new job creation and salary requirements, including meeting or exceeding the average annual wage in Mesa County, which is currently $57,421.
