Colorado: "America is Back on the Global Stage!" Governor Polis Celebrates Supreme Court Ruling Striking Down Costly Trump Tariffs
Rezul News/10728083
DENVER — Governor Polis applauds today's Supreme Court decision to block President Trump's disastrous tariff taxes, a win for American families, workers, and businesses who have been paying the price for higher costs and economic uncertainty.
"America is back on the global stage. Now we can sell our made in America and grown in America products and buy what we want from across the world with lower taxes. Today the Supreme Court said loud and clear: only Congress has the authority to impose taxes, including tariffs. For too long, Colorado businesses, farmers, and consumers have felt the devastating cost of Trump's tariff taxes that increased prices, disrupted supply chains, and delayed investment. By blocking these sweeping tariffs, the Court has helped create certainty for America's trade partners, restored stability to our economy and protected Americans from hundreds of billions of dollars in increased costs. Our economy will grow more and we will all prosper from this decision. We will always stand up for Coloradans, economic growth, and policies that help working families get ahead rather than make everyday life more expensive," said Governor Jared Polis.

Last year, Colorado joined a multi-state federal lawsuit with 11 other states to stop these disastrous tariff taxes, and limit presidential powers on pursuing a costly tariff agenda.
For Colorado, the ruling provides relief to an economy deeply connected to global trade. International trade supports more than 820,000 jobs statewide in agriculture, aerospace, manufacturing, energy, and technology. State analysis has shown that Trump's tariffs were a direct tax on Colorado businesses driving up the cost of materials like steel, aluminum, fertilizer, and equipment, forcing companies to delay hiring, cut investment, and raise prices on consumers.
Today's decision removes a major source of uncertainty. Colorado remains focused on helping businesses and workers navigate ongoing federal policy changes. The State will continue to foster strong international relationships and access to global markets for Colorado business and products, supporting farmers and small businesses, and partnering with workers and employers to strengthen Colorado's economy. Stable rules, fair trade, and respect for constitutional limits are essential to long-term growth, and today's ruling is an important step in that direction.
