City of Tacoma to Implement Temporary Road Closures and Traffic Restrictions on June 12

~ The Puyallup Tribe of Indians will be hosting the highly anticipated World Cup 2026 Kick Off Parade on Friday, June 12. The parade, which will run from 7:30 p.m. to approximately 8:45 p.m., will take place along portions of Portland Avenue and surrounding streets.

In order to ensure the smooth operation of the parade and maintain public safety, the City of Tacoma has announced temporary road closures and traffic restrictions in the area. These measures will be in effect from approximately 2 p.m. until 11 p.m. on the day of the event.

According to city officials, the following streets will be closed during the parade: Portland Avenue from East 40th Street to East 29th Street, East 38th Street from East L Street to Portland Avenue, and East 30th Street from Portland Avenue to East 29th Street.

Due to these closures, heavy traffic delays are expected in the area. Residents are advised to plan their travel accordingly and follow posted detour signage. The City's website also provides information on detour routes for those who may be affected by the road closures.
