Evansville, Ind. ~ Evansville, Ind. - The City of Evansville and the Southern Indiana Mentoring Academy (SIMA) have announced a new program aimed at providing a safe and structured environment for youth in grades 8-12 during the evening hours. The program, called Midnight Basketball, will take place on June 19th at the CK Newsome Community Center.
The event, which is open to all Evansville-area students, will feature a variety of activities including 3-on-3 basketball tournaments, tie-dying, s'mores in the courtyard hosted by the Evansville Parks Department, and a live DJ. In addition, participants will be treated to a free walking taco bar and drinks courtesy of Feed Evansville.
"We want our young people to be engaged in positive activities and feel supported throughout the summer," said Mayor Stephanie Terry. "Midnight Basketball helps make that possible by providing a program that encourages fun, teamwork, personal growth, and positive decision-making while also helping participants build strong relationships with their peers and mentors."

According to Keion Boyde, President of SIMA, Midnight Basketball is a timely and impactful initiative for youth in the community. "We commend the Mayor and her team for creating a safe, positive environment where young people can connect, compete, and grow," said Boyde. "Southern Indiana Mentoring Academy is proud to be part of this groundbreaking event."
