(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ Columbia, MO - The City of Columbia is excited to announce the return of their annual Fourth of July Fire in the Sky celebration at Stephens Lake Park. This year marks the 74th anniversary of the event, which promises to be a fun-filled evening for all attendees.
The festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a performance by the Missouri Symphony on the trailer stage near the swimming beach. Along with live music, there will be plenty of activities for families to enjoy, including inflatables, kids' crafts, face painting, and food trucks. The Stephens Lake Park Amphitheater will also feature entertainment throughout the evening, starting with a performance by Authority Cheer at 7 p.m., followed by Violet and the Undercurrents at 7:55 p.m.
The highlight of the night will be a spectacular fireworks display starting at 9:15 p.m., launched from the east side of the park. The fireworks will be synchronized to music broadcasted on BXR 102.3 for an unforgettable experience.

To ensure smooth traffic flow and parking for attendees, the City has partnered with Boone Hospital to provide parking access for Fire in the Sky visitors. Several parking lots at the hospital will be open to the public for this event. Additionally, Columbia Police Department will be present to assist with traffic management.
For those looking for alternative transportation options, Go COMO transit will offer complimentary shuttle service from all six City parking garages and a drop-off point on East Walnut Street near Stephens Lake Park. This free shuttle service will run continuously from 5 to 11 p.m., making it convenient for event-goers to move between parking garages and the celebration.
Please note that Old Highway 63 will be closed to traffic by Columbia Police Department during this event. Parking enforcement will also be suspended on July 4th, allowing attendees to park on-street or in-garage free of charge.
Similar to other large public events at Stephens Lake Park, such as Art in the Park, East Walnut Street will be closed to non-residential traffic for the evening. However, residents living on East Walnut will not need a pass to access the street during this time.

For those who prefer a more eco-friendly mode of transportation, attendees are encouraged to bike to the event. Bike racks will be available for use, but cyclists should bring a bike lock for added security.
To ensure the safety of all attendees, personal fireworks, sparklers, and barbecue grills are prohibited at Fire in the Sky. Alcohol is also strongly discouraged as this is a family-friendly event. Instead, attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy an evening celebrating with the community.
The success of Fire in the Sky would not be possible without the generous support of sponsors such as Columbia Insurance and Columbia Cosmopolitan Luncheon Club as presenting sponsors. Other sponsors include Columbia Convention and Visitors Bureau, KOMU 8, BXR102.3, KFRU1400, Columbia Missourian, Texas Roadhouse, Hyvee, Missouri Symphony and Boone Health.
