City of Columbia accepting calls for artwork for Public Art License Program

(COLUMBIA, MO) ~ The Office of Cultural Affairs in Columbia, Missouri has announced that they are now accepting applications for their Public Art License Program. This program aims to give local artists the chance to showcase their work by placing it on City-owned infrastructure.

Visual artists are invited to submit existing artwork for consideration, with a deadline of 5 p.m. on Monday, May 11. The selected pieces will have the opportunity to transform ordinary objects of urban infrastructure into works of art, enhancing public spaces and promoting local talent.

Priority will be given to traffic signal boxes for licensed artwork, but other opportunities such as bus shelters and alleyways may also be considered in the future. Artists whose work is chosen will receive a $500 licensing fee for each piece used by the City on a surface of its choosing and in promotional materials.
