Chicago: Mayor Brandon Johnson, Lawndale Christian Health Center Celebrate Grand Opening of New Family and Senior Health Center
Rezul News/10745134
CHICAGO ~ Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, along with Lawndale Christian Health Center (LCHC), Alderwoman Monique Scott (24th), Department of Planning and Development (DPD) Commissioner Ciere Boatright, and other community partners gathered today to celebrate the opening of LCHC's new Family and Senior Health Center in North Lawndale. The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place at the center's location on 3814 W. Ogden Ave, marking a significant expansion of LCHC's Ogden Medical Corridor and providing increased access to healthcare services for residents of North Lawndale and the West Side of Chicago.
In his speech, Mayor Johnson praised LCHC for its four decades of service as a trusted anchor in the community, providing care that is tailored to the needs of its patients. He also expressed his pride in being able to support this project, which not only expands access to essential healthcare but also creates jobs and strengthens a neighborhood institution that has served generations of West Side residents.
The new $24.5 million facility spans over 35,000 square feet and includes a family medicine residency clinic, senior health clinic, and optometry clinic. With a total of 35 exam rooms and lecture spaces for patient care and medical training, this state-of-the-art center is equipped to serve approximately 11,000 patients annually.

Commissioner Boatright from DPD emphasized the importance of investing in people as a community by stating that "health is wealth." She further added that this facility represents a down payment on a prosperous future for both residents and the city as a whole.
Apart from providing essential healthcare services, the new center is expected to create over 100 full-time equivalent positions, solidifying LCHC's role as a major healthcare provider and employer on Chicago's West Side.
The city has played a crucial role in making this project possible by providing $11 million in New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) financing through the Chicago Development Fund. This nonprofit organization administers NMTC investments on behalf of DPD, and the federal NMTC program supports investments that create jobs, expand services, and promote economic development in historically underserved communities.
The opening of LCHC's new Family and Senior Health Center is a significant milestone for the North Lawndale community and the West Side of Chicago. It not only expands access to essential healthcare services but also serves as a testament to the city's commitment to investing in its residents' well-being and prosperity.
