California pre-deploys resources in Plumas, Nevada, and Sierra counties ahead of critical fire weather conditions
Rezul News/10709793
~ SACRAMENTO - As critical fire weather conditions are forecasted to impact Plumas, Nevada, and Sierra counties starting Wednesday, July 30, Governor Gavin Newsom has taken proactive measures by approving the prepositioning of firefighting resources in these areas.
This decision was made in response to the success of previous prepositioning efforts, which have proven to be a crucial component of California's wildfire response strategy. By having resources already in place, response times are reduced and fires can be contained before they escalate.
A total of 14 fire engines, four water tenders, and two dispatchers have been prepositioned in Nevada, Sierra, and Plumas counties. This ensures that resources are readily available to respond quickly and minimize the potential impact of new fires.
This announcement follows recent prepositioning efforts from July 23-25 in Nevada, Plumas, and Sierra counties and from July 20-22 in Plumas and Sierra counties. Governor Newsom emphasizes the importance of residents being prepared for potential evacuations and listening to local authorities during this heightened fire weather period.

The California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) also reminds the public to have a wildfire action plan in place, including evacuation routes and a go-bag with essential items. It is also recommended to sign up for local emergency alerts to stay informed about changing conditions.
For more information on fire safety and preparedness, residents can visit News.CalOES.ca.gov and Ready.ca.gov.
In other news, Governor Newsom has issued an emergency proclamation for several storm-impacted counties including Humboldt, Mendocino, Modoc, Napa, Shasta, Sonoma. This proclamation reinforces the state's commitment to helping all Californians recover from natural disasters regardless of political affiliations.
Governor Newsom has also responded to the Trump administration's latest actions against clean air protections by standing with other governors and stating that "Americans deserve the truth from their federal government."
In a show of delivering on his promises, Governor Newsom announced that over 22,000 arrests have been made and $150 million in stolen goods have been recovered across California as part of efforts to prevent and prosecute organized retail theft. This has resulted in nearly 17,100 cases being referred for prosecution by local law enforcement.
