California: Governor Newsom celebrates four years of connecting education and workforce insights thanks to Cradle-to-Career
Rezul News/10709496
~ Sacramento, California - As the fourth anniversary of the California Cradle-to-Career Data System approaches, Governor Gavin Newsom is celebrating the system's achievements in connecting education and workforce insights. The C2C Data System, established in July 2021, has been instrumental in providing students with valuable information to help them reach their life and career goals.
Since its inception, the C2C Data System has made significant strides in its mission to connect data from multiple state entities. This has resulted in the creation of a first-of-its-kind informational tool that helps students better understand their options for education and career planning. Governor Newsom expressed his excitement for what is to come and the potential for future leaders to achieve great things with the help of this system.
Mary Ann Bates, Executive Director at the California Cradle-to-Career Data System, also shared her enthusiasm for the system's accomplishments. She highlighted how it has become a model for inclusive decision-making, meaningful community engagement, and unprecedented collaboration. Bates emphasized that Californians deserve tools that reflect their experiences when it comes to education and career planning.

The C2C Data System is overseen by a 21-member governing board representing perspectives from across the state. This ensures substantial public representation in decision-making processes. By linking existing education, workforce, financial aid, and social service information, policymakers, educators, and the public are better equipped to close opportunity gaps and improve outcomes for all students throughout California.
One of the most significant achievements of the C2C Data System is its provision of timely, accurate, and reliable information on education and workforce outcomes. As researchers express interest in delving deeper into this data dashboard, C2C plans to launch its Query Builder tool by the end of 2025. This tool will allow users to explore the information powering the dashboard further. The rollout will occur in phases with new features being added over time.
The development of the California Cradle-to-Career Data System was a collaborative effort involving over 200 people from 15 state agencies, educational institutions, research and policy organizations, and community groups. Their work resulted in a blueprint for the system, which has been instrumental in its success.

Governor Newsom also made several appointments to key positions within the state government. Paul Tupy was appointed as Director of the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control, and leaders from the Texas State Legislature were hosted by Governor Newsom amid Republican efforts to gerrymander the state to keep former President Trump in power without any Congressional oversight.
In other news, a recent report has shown that California's Cap-and-Invest Program is making significant strides in improving air quality in some of the most polluted communities in the state. With support from this program, 19 communities are receiving funding for air protection efforts.
As California continues to prioritize education and workforce development, the C2C Data System will play a crucial role in providing valuable insights and information to students and policymakers alike. With its continued success and advancements, it is clear that this system will have a lasting impact on the future of education and career planning in California.
