Games will be played 7-on-7, with a maximum of 15 players per roster. Teams are guaranteed at least three games and must provide their own uniforms. All participants will receive Mayor's Cup merchandise, according to the department.
Teams in the grades 3–5 division must register by Oct. 13 and submit final rosters by Oct. 16. The deadline for grades 6 through high school is Oct. 26, with final rosters due Oct. 30.
Mayor Michelle Wu said the tournament supports opportunities for children to spend time outdoors, work as a team and enjoy the city's parks. Parks Commissioner Diana Fernandez Bibeau said the event's two weekends and expanded divisions would offer more young people opportunities to participate.
Boston Scores is supporting the tournament by providing use of its fields, the department said.
