Boston: April 10, 2026 Traffic Advisory
Rezul News/10732230
~ Boston is gearing up for a busy weekend as the city prepares to host multiple events, including the annual Boston B.A.A Marathon Weekend and the Greek Independence Parade. The city is encouraging attendees to utilize alternative modes of transportation such as walking, biking, or taking public transit.
The Boston B.A.A Marathon Weekend, taking place from Saturday, April 18 to Monday, April 20, will feature two main races: the Boston Athletic Association's 5K and the Invitational Mile. In addition to these events, the City of Boston will also be hosting One Boston Day on April 15 and the Patriots' Day Parade on Monday, April 20. To ensure a safe and smooth facilitation of these events, road closures and parking restrictions will be implemented throughout the city.
To help residents and visitors navigate around these closures and restrictions, the Streets Cabinet has created an advisory with a detailed list of affected areas. This advisory can be found on their website.
One of the major events taking place during this busy weekend is the annual Greek Independence Parade on Sunday, April 26. The parade route will remain unchanged from previous years, starting on Boylston Street and ending at Boston Common via Charles Street. The parade is scheduled to begin at 1pm.

In preparation for this event, parking restrictions will be in effect on Sunday along Boylston Street from Massachusetts Avenue to Tremont Street; Charles Street South from Park Plaza to Boylston Street; and Beacon Street on the south side (Public Garden side) from Charles Street to Arlington Street.
Meanwhile in Roslindale, drivers should take note of a bridge closure that will affect their commute. The Canterbury Street Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic starting Friday, September 12 at 9:00 p.m., until further notice. This closure comes after a recent bridge inspection revealed necessary repairs. Pedestrian access will still be available but drivers are advised to follow the designated detour route using Hyde Park Avenue, Cummins Highway, Rowe Street, Brown Avenue, and Seymour Street.
Drivers traveling through these affected areas should anticipate delays, reduce their speed, and proceed with caution. The city urges everyone to consider alternative modes of transportation during this busy weekend to help alleviate traffic congestion.
For those planning on attending any of these events, information on Bluebikes, the regional bike share service, can be found on their website. Additionally, information on the MBTA can be found online and riders are advised to purchase round-trip tickets for a faster return trip. Walking is also a great way to get around and enjoy all that Boston has to offer during this exciting weekend.
