New Orleans-based distiller's debut book explores absinthe's influence on art and culture; in-person signings run throughout the July 19–24 conference

NEW ORLEANS - Rezul -- Absinthia Bottled Spirits, LLC founder Absinthia Vermut will debut her new book, The Green Fairy's Canvas: Absinthe's Influence on Art and Culture, at Tales of the Cocktail, the cocktail industry's largest annual conference, July 19–24 in New Orleans.

The paperback edition will debut during Tales of the Cocktail, while a signed hardcover collector's edition will launch later this summer through Kickstarter. Featuring cover artwork by Natalia Kadish, The Green Fairy's Canvas: Absinthe's Influence on Art and Culture, traces absinthe's role as muse, myth, and medium through art history and culture, alongside Absinthia's own journey as an art historian, absinthe producer, and entrepreneur. The book's debut also coincides with the release of Absinthia Bottled Spirits' first New Orleans-produced absinthe, following seven years of award-winning production in California.

"When I first tasted absinthe in 1996, my immediate question was, 'Why is this illegal?' That single question became a decades-long investigation into the myths, history, and extraordinary cultural influence of the Green Fairy. That investigation became The Green Fairy's Canvas: Absinthe's Influence on Art and Culture, and I'm honored to debut the paperback edition at Tales of the Cocktail before launching the Kickstarter campaign for the signed hardcover edition."

Conference attendees can meet Absinthia and preview the book during scheduled signings at the Ritz-Carlton, New Orleans, Tales' host hotel:
  • Monday, July 20 — 3:30–4:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, July 21 — 12:30–1:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, July 22 — 12:30–1:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 23 — 3:30–4:30 p.m.

Absinthia will also appear at Tales' official Happy Hour event on Wednesday, July 22, from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Pour House, where attendees can sample her award-winning absinthe and have books signed.
