~ Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano has announced the appointment of Helen Aggrey as the new Human Resources Commissioner for the city. Aggrey, who is an attorney and previously served as Deputy Corporation Counsel for Yonkers, will take on her new role starting October 20th pending confirmation from the Yonkers City Council.

According to Mayor Spano, Aggrey has been a standout member of his administration and brings a unique skill set to the position. He expressed confidence in her ability to continue the progress made in the last decade and further enhance the services, policies, and recruitment efforts of the HR team.

In response to her appointment, Commissioner Helen Aggrey stated that she is honored by Mayor Spano's confidence in her and looks forward to continuing the important work of supporting Yonkers' dedicated workforce with professionalism and dedication.

Aggrey joins the HR department after serving as Deputy Corporation Counsel for Yonkers for twelve years. In this role, she provided legal advice to both city administration and employees on various issues such as compliance, business matters, legislation, and transactions. Prior to this, she also served as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Mount Vernon where she advised their HR department and Civil Service Commission on employee-related issues.

Aggrey holds a Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ripon College. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her new position.

In addition to Aggrey's appointment, former Human Resources Deputy Commissioner Annie Huang will be returning to her position next month. Meanwhile, Dusan Lakic has been promoted to Deputy Corporation Counsel in the Office of Corporation Counsel while Rachel Kravitz has been elevated to Second Deputy Corporation Counsel.

The Yonkers community can look forward to continued progress and support from their HR department under Commissioner Helen Aggrey's leadership.
