Rezul News/10732144
The DEEP DIVE summit spotlights the fight against GE's landfill. Experts expose how a small group bypassed the public, ignoring health risks and bioremediation solutions.
PITTSFIELD, Mass. - Rezul -- As the DEEP DIVE summit approaches on April 25, 2025, Veterans For Peace Chapter 186 is removing the curtain on the "PCB Update" panel a powerhouse trio of Lee, MA leaders known as the "Three Roberts". Held at the United Church of Christ in Pittsfield (1 PM – 4 PM),
DEEP DIVE features Robert Jones, Robert Heinzman, and Dr. Robert Wespiser - reprepresenting front line of municipal resistance against General Electric's plan to install a new toxic PCB dump in the Berkshires.
Fierce Advocate: Robert Jones Lee Selectman Robert Jones challenges the closed-door decisions defining the river's future. Jones says: "There was only about 20 to 23 people who made the decision for the tens of thousands of people in the River Corridor... They made the decision to have yet another toxic waste dump in Berkshire County... If I was in that room and they told me 'The people who put you in office can't know about this,' I would have gone running out of that room with my hair on fire even though I don't have any hair."

Ecological Visionary: Robert Heinzman Heinzman states: "PCBs are part of the great post-World War II chemistry experiment imposed on living systems... Like children, we have to learn to clean up after ourselves—for the sake of future generations."
Medical Sentinel: Dr. Robert Wespiser Wespiser warns: "Health effects are very common but we don't know what sort of effect it's had on the population of this beautiful river valley... I'm concerned about what we don't know."
Highlights The "Three Roberts" join keynote speaker and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Chris Hedges, who will present "The Blue Renewal," an exploration of the moral necessity of purging industrial toxins from our shared environment.
