~ As the year comes to a close, Governor Greg Abbott of Texas is celebrating the state's success as America's jobs leader. According to December labor market estimates, Texas gained the most nonfarm jobs in the nation in 2025 and set new records for total nonfarm jobs, number of Texans working, and size of the Texas labor force.

In a statement, Governor Abbott attributed this achievement to the flourishing of free enterprise and the rewarding of hard work in Texas. He also highlighted the state's appeal for business relocations and expansions, which has contributed to its job growth. With more Texans working than ever before, Governor Abbott expressed optimism for a year of boundless opportunity in Texas.

The latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that Texas gained 132,500 jobs from December 2024 to December 2025, surpassing all other states and outpacing the national annual job growth rate by half a percentage point. The state also reached a new high with its largest labor force ever at 15,964,000 and recorded a record high for Texans working at 15,283,600.

Additionally, Texas reached a new high for total nonfarm jobs at 14,341,000 after adding 19,700 positions over the month. This growth has contributed to the state's low unemployment rate of 4.3%, which is below the national unemployment rate of 4.4%.

Governor Abbott recently praised Texas' robust and diverse economy as he reflected on the state's economic triumphs in 2025. With its strong job market and business-friendly environment, it is clear that Texas will continue to be a leader in job creation and economic growth in the years to come.
