Texas Leads Nation For 12-Month Jobs Gain

Rezul News/10722646
~ In a recent press release, Governor Greg Abbott proudly declared Texas as the leading state for job growth in America. According to September employment data, Texas has experienced the largest 12-month jobs gain in the nation, setting new records for the number of Texans working, the size of the labor force, and total jobs.

Governor Abbott attributed this success to the state's thriving free enterprise system and its ability to attract businesses of all sizes. He stated, "Texas is where free enterprise flourishes and jobs grow. That is why Texas leads all states with the largest 12-month jobs gain in the nation." He also highlighted how businesses have confidence in investing in Texas, from small startups to large corporations.

The latest labor market data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Texas Workforce Commission further supports Governor Abbott's claims. The state reached a new high with a labor force of 15,879,000 people and a record-breaking number of Texans working at 15,222,900. Additionally, nonfarm jobs reached an all-time high at 14,343,800 after adding 4,600 positions over the month.

In terms of job growth rate, Texas outpaced all other states by gaining 168,000 jobs from September 2024 to September 2025. This is also higher than the national annual job growth rate by 0.4 percentage points. The state's unemployment rate remained steady at 4.1%, which is lower than the national unemployment rate of 4.4%.

Governor Abbott has been actively promoting career and technical education (CTE) programs to provide more opportunities for Texans to secure high-demand and well-paying jobs after graduation. Recently, he announced over $14 million in Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) training grants to higher education institutions and independent school districts (ISD). An additional $1 million was allocated for dual credit grants to train more students for these in-demand jobs.

With a strong and growing workforce, Governor Abbott is confident that Texas will continue to lead the nation in job growth and provide better career opportunities for its residents.
